First Horsley Park Wine Competition

The first Horsley Park Wine Competition for Home Made Grape Wines, took place at Our Lady of Victories Parish on
Saturday November 22, 2003. The event was run by the OLOV Function Committee.The rules for
this year's competition were announced a few months before the event.
A total of 26 home made wines were presented for the competition - 22 Red wines and 4
White ones . In the first part of the competition three judges, Mr Andrew Stein, Mr Jacob Stein and Mr Con
Constantinidis, chose the winning wines in both Red and White categories. In the second part of the competition, 40 guests
present at the evening voted for the best Red and best White wine.
At the end of the evening, a certificate of participation was presented to all participants and the
results announced. The Best Red wine and the Best White wines were each awarded a trophy
which will be kept by the winner, a certificate and two bottles of wine. The second and the third best received a
certificate and a bottle of wine each. The People's Choice Red and White wines too received a certificate and two bottles
of wine each. The prizes were donated by Mr Andrew Stein, also of Stein Wineries, Mudgee.
A big thanks to the organisers, the judges, the participants and all who supported the event.
The 2004 WINE COMPETITION FOR HOME PRODUCED GRAPE WINES will be held on SATURDAY NOVEMBER 20, 2004. If you
